How to discern if something is from God, or the enemy
6:55

I’d like to address the whole, “God wouldn't give us more than we can handle” perspective/saying that I know all of us have heard and/or said at some time or another.

It's just really heavy on my heart right now to share the perspective that I've tried to live by for the last, I don't know, I guess about 10 years.  Every time I hear that, I think, you know, that doesn't sound like my God.  I know He is a Good Good Father and He wants us to live an abundant life.

The Word says that the enemy is out to kill, steal, and destroy.  So, if the enemy is out to kill, steal, and destroy, then why is it when something bad happens (steal, kill, destroy), are we saying “Oh, well, God wouldn't give us more than we could handle,” when that was something the enemy was trying to inflict on us?

Now, the cool thing is that God is able to take that negative thing or bad situation and He’s able to use it for His glory if we allow Him to.  We have to choose to walk that out and choose to do it.  Sometimes it's so much harder than other times.  Sometimes it might look like a year-long process and other times it might look like a 30 second process. It just depends on what it is.

Does it not just drive y’all crazy to hear someone say “Oh, God can't give you or God doesn’t give us more than you can handle”?  I don't mean any disrespect to the people that still have that perspective or anyone who has said that (or even still says it).

I’d like your input and insight on this. Let me know how many of you have heard this and what you think about it.  Have you ever considered this perspective?  Are you open to considering it now?

The Word says we speak life or death.  Out of our mouths we speak blessings or curses.  And so, if we continue to say, “Oh, well, God wouldn't give us more than we can [handle],” we're literally saying that God inflicted these hardships on us when it clearly is over here in a completely different box.

The enemy is out to kill, steal, and destroy. God doesn't kill, steal, and destroy the hearts of men and believers in Christ. He's not going to do that. Like, your parent wouldn't want you to fail.  Your parent wouldn't intentionally cause or create anything for you to do with kill, steal, or destroy.  I think we could all probably agree on that. If that was the case, then that's a completely different conversation.  The intention of a parent is to care and want their child to succeed, right?  So, if that is the case, then why would God inflict anything to kill, steal, and destroy? Again, He can use it for His glory if we allow him to.

Anyway, I just, I would like your thoughts and insight on this. Have you heard of this perspective on this infamous saying of “Oh, well, God wouldn't give me more than I could handle?” Like, have you ever thought about what those words mean? They're meaning that God inflicted those hardships on us. Have you thought about it that way? Would you consider a different perspective? I would really, really like to know your perspective of this.  It’s just been heavy on my heart so I wanted to open this discussion up.  Love you guys.  Talk with you soon.
